Message from our Head of School
I am honored to be have the opportunity to work with the children at EDS. There is no happier place to be than an elementary school.
Allow me to tell you a little about myself. My husband and I have one child. Kirsten attended EDS in the 4th and 5th grade and graduated from ESA in 1998. We have two little granddaughters, Katherine and Elizabeth. I couldn't be more delighted that Katherine plans to enter as a three year old this school year.
My career in education, of more than 45 years, has been a long and happy one. I taught 5th grade at Ascension Day School in Lafayette. For years EDS and Ascension traveled to Washington D.C. together on our study tour. In 1989 I came to Epiphany as an interim Head while I completed my PhD at LSU Baton Rouge in Educational Administration. I had the privilege of serving as Head of School for 20 years. In those 20 years we grew to an enrollment of 245 with two sections of every grade PK 3 through 5th grade. I look back on those years with the fondest of memories.
In 2009 I retired from EDS but have continued working. I was an adjunct professor at UL for more than 15 years and continue to teach classes in graduate school. I also work for Lafayette Parish Schools.
I assure you that my first priority is for your children to successfully complete the school year. I look forward to meeting you. Please, do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or need any assistance.
The old saying is that you can’t go home again… I must tell you I’m not sure I agree... I surely do feel “home again”.
I look forward to another great year at EDS!
Cheryl B. Boutte, PhD.
